Nikki Araguz is proactively sharing her story, experience, and survivor skills to educate, inform, and inspire others. As an advocate for marriage equality, she met with Legislators in Austin, and spoke in front of the Capitol Building to express opposition of Texas Senate Bill 723.

In May 2011, Nikki was honored at the Harvey Bernard Milk Rally in Austin, with a poster signed by countless supporters. Known as a pioneer who was openly gay, and won political office, before losing his life to an assassin in 1978.

On Saturday, June 4, 2011, Nikki Araguz joined Houston Mayor Annise Parker, City Councilwoman Jolanda Jones, attorney John Nechman, among local and national LGBT community members and supporters attending the Human Rights Campaign Gala celebrating "The Heartbeat of Equality." This year's event was held at the Hilton-Americas in downtown Houston.

Nikki Araguz is writing her life story - certain to reveal what only Nikki can peel away from her inner soul. Interest has already been expressed in publishing her autobiography, producing a film and television options focused on her life and inspiring story. Independent film producer Michael Bremer has met with Nikki to discuss potential projects.
   In addition to numerous newspaper articles written about Nikki and her marriage to Thomas Araguz since his sudden death,
ABC's Deborah Roberts interviewed Nikki for a 20/20 feature about her life. In May, 2011: follow-up story, with contributions from the October 2010 U.S. telecast, which has since been broadcast across the world.

Nikki is gifted with unique life experiences, and endeavors to share with all audiences. She speaks candidly with understanding and compassion to organizations and groups, small and large, on a variety of topics:

In Dallas, Nikki was a guest host on Reckless After Dark, the popular LGBT radio show hosted by Chase Brooks. June 25, 2011, she rode in the Houston Gay Pride Parade, on the float sponsored by her legal team, Katine & Nechman, L.L.P.

Nikki continues to honor the memory of her husband, Captain Thomas Araguz III, by moving forward. Though she'll forever grieve his heroic and untimely death, her legal teams will help her persevere toward what is right through the court process, while Nikki focuses on the future. She continues to actively advocate for marriage and human equality, help others along the way - and find some peace in her personal life.
